Hello, and welcome to National Novel Writing Month, 2008!
I don't know about you, but man, I am super excited! All I know I'm writing about is a set of talking cats, and six people that come together to find out why an apocalypse happened ages ago for reasons I don't know yet!
For those who are new, welcome to what is probably going to be the most stressful, the most interesting, the most insane month. Don't say I didn't warn you. However, even though there are road bumps and on your first year they can seem insurmountable, don't forget that's why we have the regional forums. If things are going great, share that, we'll be there clapping along, if you've hit a snag or a brick wall,
I can't stress how great it is to have 20 or so people cheering you on, it's enough for at least an hour more of writing! And I'm always available via NaNoMail at almost all hours of the night and day. Even if you're a vetran, we're all in the same boat, we know where you're coming from.
I cannot stress Write-in's enough. There is nothing more exciting than gathering a bunch of super hyped up writers together and setting them loose on their novels. There are many stories of people who have gone to write-ins who have gone over major hurdles or were behind, and now are majorly ahead.
If going out to where the "official" write-ins are is too far, or challenging, feel free to post a date and a time in the forums, or shoot me a mail. I can add it to the regional calendar telling others that you are gathering at a local spot.
To switch topics, I have already planned out the Kickoff party. I picked out a date in advance only because I wanted to use that opportunity to make sure that we had a location and and because I wanted to make sure I had enough stuff for people this year.
Well, I am so excited and ready to go. Although don't expect me to show up anytime soon in a cheerleader costume, I'll still be around!

Why?
Write-ins are known for having great record breaking moments in people's novels. They're especially wonderful come week two when things start to get down and uptight. Not only are you writing in writer-friendly environments but you are also out of your normal comfort setting. I don't know why this works, but it does. I have an idea this year of trying out word-wars with others. Where you try to match another's word count with yours within a set time period. The person with the most words within that time, wins.
I've done enough talking to make Chris seem blocked. I'll see you come november!
Trying not to talk in exclamation points,
Chaoticpi
One last thing I forgot to mention (and this happens every time) If you could please RSVP for the Kickoff by the 15th? That gives me time to know how much stuff to plan plus how much to make/buy.
Because I always forget one thing,
